Quantitech debuts 4-gas analysers

Published: 6-Jun-2007

Quantitech has launched two infrared anaesthetic gas analysers for monitoring workplaces in hospitals.

Both instruments are a development of the InfraRan portable gas detector. Measuring 4 anaesthetic gases (nitrous oxide, desflurane, isoflurane and sevoflurane) one model provides individual measurements for any of the gases, whilst the other offers simultaneous readings for two gases (nitrous oxide or sevoflurane with either desflurane or isoflurane).

Occupational exposure to anaesthetic gases can lead to a variety of both acute and chronic effects and regular monitoring is vital to ensure that unacceptable concentrations have not arisen as a result of either poor practice or faulty equipment.

Weighing 8.2kg, the InfraRan incorporates a sample pump so that operators are able to move around and take almost instantaneous measurements in ppm.

The new analysers are aimed at anaesthetists, operating department practitioners, theatre resource managers, technical services managers, facilities management staff and anyone responsible for piped medical gases.
